The evening begins with dinner at a restaurant followed by an evening stroll by the local night market. The night market in Penang is a colorful exhibition of light and sound. From food to utensils almost any article imaginable may be obtainable after a bargain. It is fun and exciting. An interesting diversion is Penang's own "Lovers Lane" - Gurney Drive. The tour ends with a trishaw ride along Chinatown. [Includes dinner]

Round Island Tour (private)

Beyond the outskirts of Georgetown, follow the winding and mountainous road for 74 km to witness the beautiful waterfront, which Penang is famous for. The tour includes visiting cottage industry to witness the actual process of batik making, a stop by a fruit stall and another at Snake Temple.

Nestled within the hills of Penang is the largest Buddhist temple in South-East Asia. Built on sprawling grounds, it is dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy and is called Kek Lok Si temple (Temple of Paradise). The 7-tier Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas dominates the temple. This temple encompasses the distinct architecture style of the Thais, Burmese and Chinese. Next, take an enjoyable funicular rail ride up Penang Hill, 830m above sea level, to have a panoramic view of Georgetown and the Straits of Malacca. Penang Hill was first established as a cool hill retreat during the colonial days.

PINANG CULTURAL CENTRE

Set against a backdrop of traditional Malay architecture in the sea-side district of Telok Bahang, Pinang Cultural Centre is the most diversified cultural attraction in Penang.

It consists of two sections : one being the spectacular purpose built building of Malay architecture housing the Exhibition Gallery, a Bazaar, a restaurant and a large stage style the other is the Kampong or Village.

Cultural Extravaganza

The drama of life is often best told in music and dance, an integral part of Malaysian culture. Showcased on stage by the internationally known Pinang Cultural Centre Dancers, both traditional and contemporary dances are presented in their original and colourful forms. Malay dances, multi-racial dances and exotic tribal dances, all add that touch of mystery and delight for the visitor.
